Caroline Heylman talking about her experiences with the New Orleans Eat Local Challenge 2011.
Dear NOLA Locavores,
We heartily support your efforts to rebuild New Orleans’ economy and community networks through local food. In our experience travelling around North America, we have seen local foods excite and invigorate people in cities and towns of all kinds.
By learning about local foods, we learn and connect with local culture as well. We believe everyone would be happier and more secure if they were self-sufficient within strong regional networks of food growing and trade. Our farmers and gardeners are our neighbors—and we hope, in the future, everyone will take part in creating and eating delicious, healthful foods from the land they know.
Good luck on your 200-mile challenge, and good eating!
